Favorite movie of all time?

Oooh, this is a tough one because I LOVE movies and have many favorites, but I think I'd have to say Ever After! I love Drew Barrymore and it's a great spin on Cinderella...plus the movie has (obviously!) a happy ending--girl gets her prince...sounds good to me! ;) :)

Favorite movie quote?

Can I just say the entire movie of Mean Girls? It is ridiculous how many quotes my sisters and I trade back and forth from that movie...."That is so fetch!" "Get in loser, we're going shopping!" "If you're from Africa, why are you white? "Oh my God Karen, you can't just ask people why they are white..." "Glenn Coco? FOUR for you, Glenn Coco! You go, Glenn Coco!" Haha...love that movie!

Best movie to watch for a girls night in?

Oh, hands down, The Notebook! I think there was a semester in college where my roommates and I might have definitely watched that movie on a weekly basis. We even (somehow) convinced some of our guy friends to watch it one night and let's just say, the tissue box was passed around to everyone and not because of "allergies" like the guys tried to claim, hah!! Good times--although I guess when you invite guys over, that does kind of eliminate girls night, doesn't it? Haha!

Best breakup movie?

Hmm, I would say probably any "feel good" movie like The Little Mermaid or any Disney movie (yes, I sometimes act like I'm 8 years old, haha) OR maybe a movie that reminds me that love is out there...something like Love Actually! Love that movie...

Favorite celeb eye candy?

Hands down, Ryan Gosling. I know I talk about him all the time, but he is gorgeous! Sigh... :)

Which movie stars closet would you want to raid?

Well, I'm going to cheat on this question a little, because although this person is not in movies, she is a celebrity and I love her style--Lauren Conrad! She is SO adorable--I love her outfits, so stylish and classic!

I'm excited to introduce my blog to some new readers!

I started blogging back in August--it was something I had thought about for awhile. I love to write and I have lots of favorite things, so I figured it was time to start my own blog after stalking reading so many fun blogs that are out there!

My posts are often random and about whatever favorite thing I'm thinking of--I love nail polish, fashion and makeup, so I often write about things related to those. I love to participate in link-ups and there are some really fun ones out there!

I live in northern Virginia, in a suburb of Washington D.C.. I've lived here since I was 7 years old (minus 4 years of college) and I love this area! I have two sisters who also live in the area, along with my parents--we are a very close family and they are so great!

Although the traffic in our area is crazy, there are SO many fun things to do. I love to go into the city for concerts, museums, and sporting events. I was a theatre and dance major at James Madison University, so I'm very interested in the arts! 

I've seen Taylor Swift perform twice in DC--she is so great!!!

I also like to do yoga, run and do fun craft projects! I've always been a big fan of sports and my family has season tickets to the Washington Redskins--even though they had a terrible year, I still love them! :)

Love the Redskins! It is always so fun to see the games! (Welll, most of the time--if they are playing well! Haha..)

After college, I decided I wanted to be a teacher and I did a graduate program at George Mason University to get my teaching license and Master's degree. I teach at a fantastic elementary school and love what I do! :) It is definitely an interesting job and each day is a new adventure!

SUYL: Singles Day!

Okayyyy, here we go: I'll start by saying this is definitely me going out on a limb here--this is not something I've done before or had really thought about doing until the last time Kelly hosted a Singles Day! Ever since then, God has really put it on my heart to give it a try and put myself out there a little! :)

Hi! I'm Erin!

As you can imagine from this being SUYL Singles Day, I am single and hoping to meet someone special sometime soon! I would love to meet someone who shares some of the same interests as me (or wants to introduce me to new ones!) and likes to have fun.  It's important to me to find someone who shares my Christian values and treats people with respect--I don't like rude people....although really, who does? Haha..

But yes, kindness, respect and honesty are all qualities that I look for in a partner. Family is very important to me so it would be great to find someone who shares that value as well.

Now that we've got that covered, I'll start my introduction!

So, I'm Erin and I live in Virginia, in a suburb of Washington D.C.. I was born in Cincinnati, but we moved to the northern Virginia area when I was 7 and except for college, I've lived here ever since.

I went to college at James Madison University, majoring in Theatre and Dance.  During the spring break of my senior year, I went on a volunteer trip to Chicago where we worked with inner-city kids at their schools, and I can pretty much say that trip changed the course of my life. Until then, I had thought about working professionally in the theatre industry, but after my trip, I knew I wanted to be a teacher and I'm SO happy that I am!

I got my Master's degree in Elementary Education from George Mason University and was lucky enough to get a job at a FANTASTIC school! I absolutely love the school where I teach and I have such great co-workers! I honestly can't imagine what my life would be without some of them who have become such close friends of mine in the past few years!

I teach in 6th grade -- it is part of elementary school where we live and I think part of middle school just about everywhere else in the country, haha. My 6th graders keep me on my toes and my days are quite busy, but I love seeing their creativity and enthusiasm for learning! :) They make me laugh and I have many crazy stories about some of the adventures I've had during my first 3 and a half years of teaching.

Each year it gets a little bit easier, but those first few days are so busy!!!

I'm also lucky enough to have a very supportive and fun family! My mom and sisters have spent countless hours helping me put up bulletin boards, organizing my book library, volunteering at holiday parties, coming to PTA events and participating in fundraisers, not to mention listening to all of my teaching stories! My dad also likes to hear about my silly and funny kids, and even though our jobs could not be more different (he works for a defense contractor), we love sharing our "work experiences"! My family is very important to me and I'm so glad we all live in the area and get to spend time together.

Some of my interests:
--Anything sports related! I'm a huge Washington Redskins fans and I love going to their games! I follow the Washington teams in every sport, but since we sadly almost never make it to any sort of playoffs, I also root for other teams from random parts of the country... :)

- I like doing yoga--it can be intense but very cool.

- I like to run--this is an activity I've gotten into in the last 6 months or so, and I'm running my first 5K in two weeks--I'm so excited!

- I love watching movies, mostly comedies and uplifting ones. Scary movies--not so much, even the previews scare me sometimes haha....

- I love going to concerts, plays and musicals. Living close to Washington D.C. has given me so many opportunities to go to fun events and cool museums! I especially love art museums--and love that the Smithsonian museums are free--yay!

- I also love to read--probably not a big surprise since I'm a teacher, but I mean it when I say I LOVE to read. I am usually reading about 3 or 4 books at a time, which some people think is weird, but I honestly used to think that everyone did that -- apparently that is not true! Haha...

- I love to spend time with my friends!

- I like to travel and have gone on some really fun trips in recent years: A two week trip to England and Scotland, a cruise to Jamaica and the Cayman Islands, a trip out west to Colorado and a bunch of trips to New York City, which is one of my favorite places to go.

Meet the Teacher Monday!

This week I am linking up with Blog Hoppin' for Teacher Week! Today's topic is meet the teacher! This is the first link up I've ever done, since I'm pretty new to blogging and I'm really excited!

Tell us a little something about you...

This is my newly started blog! I just started it about a week ago-- perfect timing for Teacher Week!  

How long have you been teaching?

This will be my fourth year of teaching and I'm so excited for another year to begin! I teach 6th grade, which is part of elementary school where I live and I love that age! The kids are funny and interested in a lot of different topics. They love doing projects and fun science experiments. I teach at a fantastic school with the BEST co-workers! 

You might not know...

I did not always plan on being a teacher! In fact, it did not really become a goal of mine until late into my college career (i.e. after it was too late to change my major!)


I went to college at James Madison University and was very involved in the theatre department, majoring in Theatre and Dance. I loved being involved in the department in different ways: acting, managing, directing, scenery, stage makeup, costumes, and play-writing , but I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do as far as a career.

My fabulous friend from college, Kim!! She's a great friend, dancer, choreographer and teacher! :) I love her!

Becoming a teacher had been in the back of my mind for awhile, but it wasn't until I went on an Alternative Spring Break trip during my senior year of college that it really became clear to me. My group went to Chicago and spent the week working in inner-city schools and after-school programs. I absolutely loved working with the kids, who were so sweet and eager to learn. I loved meeting the teachers and hearing about their experiences--it was such a great opportunity for me to be able to help the students and gain insight into what I wanted to do with my life post-college...


After I graduated from JMU, I started a graduate program in elementary education. After a year and a half, I was a licensed teacher and got a teaching job for the upcoming school year.  In addition to teaching, during my first year as a teacher,  I took two classes to earn my master's degree in elementary education. That was an incredibly busy year with absolutely no social life (sad but true!), but it was so worth it!

What are you looking most forward to this school year?

I'm looking forward to starting another school year! Every year that I have been a teacher has been  fun, different, and rewarding.  I am always so excited to start the school year again! Last year, I was so excited to go back for our first teacher workday before school began that I could not sleep at ALL the night before! (Haha, that sounds ridiculous, but I just couldn't wait to be back!) I always love getting to catch up with my co-workers, meet my new students, and beginning another great year!

What teaching supplies can you *not* live without?

- My Smartboard- I love it! :)
